Il Barretto is a refined, intimate restaurant that prioritizes quality over quantity. The menu is compact but deliberate, with seasonal ingredients and Tuscan staples that feel both familiar and elevated. It’s not trying to impress with flash—it’s about balance, pacing, and letting the food speak for itself. The space is cozy, with soft lighting and minimal noise, making it ideal for solo diners, couples, or small groups who want to focus on the meal and the moment. Service here is quietly attentive. Staff won’t hover, but they’re quick to notice when you need something. There’s a sense of calm professionalism that matches the tone of the space. You’re not rushed to finish, and that slower rhythm makes the experience feel more personal. Accessibility is decent, though the layout may be tight for wheelchairs or strollers—worth checking ahead if needed.
Katia- IL Barretto Ristaurante - service was exquisite! Quiet restaurant off the Main Street. Very nice and well kept inside. Ambiance is calm, romantic, clean and pleasant. Everyone from the owner to the host were all welcoming & we were greeted warmly upon arrival. Katia was such a pleasure to have as our waitress. She checked in at the right times to make sure we were all right and if we needed anything. My daughters were also treated well. The food was delicious. So good that we went there twice for dinner! We enjoyed the Lobster Pasta, catch of the day Sea Bass Branzino, & pasta with shrimp. We also had the yummy sides white beans, buffalo caprese & mixta salad - all delicious! For dessert we enjoyed the lemon sorbet, tiramisu, & crème brûlée. Can’t wait to come back to Florence to dine at IL Barretta again! Thank you for the outstanding service & delicious food!
What an incredible find. A beautiful restaurant with careful and considered service and just beautiful food. All wonderfully simple and just delicious. The hosts were attentive and went out of their way to find us (5) a table, with drinks outside whilst we waiting. The food was prompt and just lovely. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Need a higher rating!
Absolutely delicious! This restaurant was recommended by our lovely nearby hotel, Il Tornabuoni. We had the caprese salad to start, then shared the shrimp and asparagus risotto and the meatballs in red sauce. They were all exquisite. We couldn’t resist dessert and tried both the crème brûlée and the chocolate soufflé. Divine - particularly the chocolate. Everyone was kind and friendly. Highly recommend!
Restaurant is bustling but still very cozy. Staff are welcoming, attentive, kind, and helpful in recommendations. The food was amazing - we all got the lobster pasta which was phenomenal. We also shared the chocolate soufflé which was maybe the standout for me, which is saying a lot because the pasta was great too. Very rich and delicious, and came warm with ice cream as well. Ilham & Ryan were so wonderful and made our time at the restaurant even better!
The vibes and atmosphere of this restaurant are very authentic and comfortable. We got the Florentine steak along with other sides, the steak was one of the best meals we had while on our trip in Italy. You must try the Florentine steak here!!! It is closely ran, the manager Ilam was very nice and welcoming, along with the other staff that are very hard working. I would 100% recommend and eat here again!
Run don’t walk to this authentic Florentine family owned restaurant for three generations ! By far our best meal in Florence and maybe all of Italy! The black truffle pasta was a dream. Actually it was SO good we returned the next day for more. The florentine steak was divine as was the lobster pasta. Will definitely make a trip back here next time in town!
Small family run restaurant. Met Australian tourists at the table next to us and British tourists on the other side. Steak was well cooked and seasoned. Great spot for dinner.
